The Butcher's Shop was the last remaining shop.

This business previously thrived with a mobile van delivering meat far afield for many years passed on in the same family for at least three generations. Previously a pony and trap was used to deliver meat to Skellbrook, Little Smeaton, and Marr, as well as locally.

Owing to the heat through the windows from the afternoon sun, the Butchers was moved to a cooler east facing building show below which now is a private dwelling. Other buildings were also utilised by the butcher, such as the wash and slaughter house.
